Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: We purchased a cosco alpha omega car seat in july of 2002. we read the manual, watched the video and had the car seat installed by a certified technician at our local police station. we have had problems from the start with properly adjusting the shoulder straps . in order to tighten the straps you need to pull down from the bottom- which will also tighten the double buckle and it presses down on my sons groin area. the most important concern is now that my 18 month old son can wiggle out of the shoulder straps. i called the manufacturer several times to complain. i was told there are no recalls on this model. i have a friend with the same car seat experiencing the same problems. we took the car seat back to be re-inspected for proper installation and was again told that we are using the seat properly. there is no way to make the shoulder straps any tighter ( only able to make the double buckle very tight and uncomfortable) i was advised to consider replacing the car seat if it happens again and to file a complaint with nhtsa. it continues to occur so we are currently buying a new car seat. *la
