Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: We purchased ceramix brake pads from napa after we had heard about the low dusting, no noise, and advanced stopping. we installed them on three vehicles. the two vehicles that were installed last almost immediately dusted and made noise. then we began to notice a "wobble" upon application of the brakes. the vehicle that was done first, almost a year prior, also began to "wobble" and dust. finally, we took all three to have the brakes checked. the 2000 dakota quad and the 1998 ram were taken to the dealer, zangara dodge. the dakota was able to have the rotors turned, again (had done them at napa during the installation of the pads). the ram had to have the rotors replaced. the third vehicle was taken to brake masters and they also found that the rotors required replacement. both places stated that the problem was due to the rotors having become warped and quite likely due to the pads. both locations also stated that this could have become a serious safety problem during braking operation. upon returning the pads to napa, they reimbursed us the original cost of the pads. on the first visit, my sister forgot to ask for the rotors to be returned to her, and the manager stated that had she brought the rotors in, he would have reimbursed her for them as well to be sent back to the manufacturer of the pads for analysis. upon returning the third set, he "measured" one rotor in one place and stated that they were "not warped". i would also like to mention that the micrometers used had been improperly stored, had a rounded surface and were not annotated as calibrated to anyone's knowledge. upon returning the pads, two sets of them were visibly "cracked" as mentioned by the personnel at the dealer as well as napa. we feel these pads are a safety problem that requires someone to look into before any does become hurt. i had written to napa and recieved a response 04/30/2004 case numbers 258498 & 258499 but have not heard anything from them since.
