| Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: 2 times the base of two different evenflo portabout carseats have not released form the seat itself. in the first case the tail of the latch strap we thought was wedged between the seat and the base. in the second case the red release lever did not work. we had to pull the black lever and it still did not release every time. we have reported this to patsy pilcher with evenflo, but are concerned that if the hooks that attach the seat to the base are bent or broken by someone jerking to get the seat off the base then the child ridining in that seat would be in great danger in the event of a crash. the car seat program at children's healthcare of atlanta gives many seats to patients. no incident that we know of has occurred, but we wanted nhtsa to be aware of this problem. vandie enloe, cpst-i. *ak |
