Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: Vehicle: 30' weekend warrior travel trailer. tires: carlisle radial st 225/75r15. trailer loaded weight: 10,000lbs. 7,500 miles on tires & trailer. tire pressure @ 75psi and checked daily. blow out occurred @ 9:30 am with aprox. 60 miles on them this morning. while driving on freeway @ 50 mph one of six (triple axle trailer) tires blew out. i felt a thud, looked in my mirror and saw the tire tread and trailer wheel well flare flying through the air, cars were swerving all over to miss the debris. i immediately pulled to the side of the road. aaa arrived and helped install the spare tire, then led me to the closest tire shop. (approximately one mile). on examination another tire had the belts completely separated and ready to blow. yet another tire had a sidewall bubble the size of 2 softballs. the tire shop immediately removed the valve stem to keep it from blowing. the three tires were replaced. the damage was minimal compared to what could have happened? the trailer wheel well flare was lost. scratches up the side of the trailer and one wheel center cap damaged.*ak |
