Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: Automatic transmission developed a problem: slipping and shuddering during acceleration between 16-20 mph. the volvo dealer said transmission was damaged and could not be repaired: they replaced it with a rebuilt volvo trans. warranty was 4 yr, 50,000 mi: trans failed at 3 yr, 9 mo, 56839 mi -the dealer refused to honor warranty or to try to repair existing trans: insisted upon replacement of trans at cost of $3,889.92. *jb the consumer felt that volvo intentionally placed defective automatic transmissions in their vehicles to fail prematurely. *sc *jb
