| Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: Upon hearing the wear indicator on front brakes of my 2000 gmc jimmy with 24000+ miles on it, i took it in for repair expecting only pad replacement and maybe machining of the rotors. as it turned out, all 4 rotors needed replacement due to large areas of deep corrosion that, according to the repair shop, was severe enough to affect braking, and thus, pad wear, leading to premature failure of these critical components. an attempt was made to machine one rotor to get past the corrosion, but the corrosion was too deep and would leave the rotor too thin. the repair shop is beginning to see this problem on late model gm vehicles, and as such, provided me with all the parts that were replaced (4 rotors and all pads) as well as an itemized list of new parts used in anticipation of some sort of follow-up action from gm or the government.*ak |
