| Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: I have a 2001 yukon xl which has had three instances of known design failures in the braking system -- both emergency features, both well known to the manufacturer. the first is a known design defect in the retaining clip of the emergency/parking brake mechansim. as a result the parking brake will wear out within 20-30k miles. the second is an electrical failure in the ebcm (braking control module) where the abs motor shorts into a always on position. the only way to drive the vehicle is to remove the abs fuse and do without the abs feature. neither known safety issue has a recall assocaited with it. *ak |
