| Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: I have a 2001 dodge dually that i use to pull a trailer for my job. the truck is suposed to be rated for over 15000lbs towing. my trailer combined weight isn't over 8000 at any time. the factory receiver hitch which is rated at 11,000 has cracked where it mounts to the frame. the crack has gone through the first of 3 mounts starting at the front on each side. luckily i discovered this during a routine inspection. i had a friend that had this same thing happen to him on his dodge. if the hitch had broke loose while driving at highway speed, no telling what could have happend. the public uses these trucks for pulling horse trailers, race cars, ect. i use mine for carrying snack foods. i feel that this is a safty hazzard and urge the manufacture to recall the hitches. i replaced mine with a class 5 hitch rated at 15000 lbs. *ak |
