| Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: Blow out of michelin xrv tire on new motor home. tire data: dot b6h6 ak3 x 1803 255/80r22.5 10135 miles on tire tire was inflated to 98 psi , motor home was lightly loaded. two ruptures on outside sidewall of tire , one "z" shaped, the other "l" shaped. the holes are approximately 70 degrees apart on either side of the label michelin. in both the z and l shaped holes the smallest tears are circumferential (~2" each) the longest part of the holes are radial (~ 4-5" long). blowout occurred instantaneously (sounded like gun shot) in rush hour traffic on i-64 in louisville ky. was able to safely stop vehicle on shoulder without damaging rim or any other part of the motor home. my road service (coach net) located a tire company which 3.5 hours and $412 later corrected the problem. *nm |
