Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: The subject vehicle is a 2001 mazda tribute which was purchased july 2003. it had approximately 30k miles. current mileage is 61000. during the first three months of ownership, the vehicle stalled three times during acceleration. the dealership examined the vehicle and determined the failure cause to be an oxygen sensor in the computer. the tribute was under warranty and therefore repaired at no cost. later, this defect was a recall issue, where the computer needed to be reset. after 6 months of ownbership, the car had a leaky cv boot. approximate mileage was 45k. again, the vehicle was under warranty repaired at no cost. four days ago, the vehicle would start but not idle and there was a gas odor. it was towed to the dealership, where they determined the failure reasons were two-fold. both the idle switch and the air intake manifold gaskets needed to be replaced. dealership said the gaskets were cracked and started to crumble. whoever heard of intake manifold gaskets requiring replacement at approximately 60k?? one of the criteria used to select this vehicle was the high reports of reliability. based upon this vehicle, i'd say the reports are wrong. *ak |
