Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: The accelerator pedal became stuck after being depressed. vehicle continued to accelerate on its on. consumer was able to pull over, and turned the vehicle off. consumer had the vehicle towed to the dealer, and mechanic determined that the butter fly linkage sheared off while driving. this caused the throttle pedal to remain open. mechanic informed the consumer that the accelerator pedal needed to be replaced. *ak the throttle body butterfly has a metal attachment held on by two rivets. overtime these rivets became loose and cause metal fatigue to the attached piece of metal on the butterfly. the rivet on one side broke through the fatigue hole that was drilled for the rivet insert then causing the attach piece to shift thus wedging the throttle open. *tc |
