Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: In september 2004 i received notification of a recall relating to the cam shaft position sensor in my 2001 daewoo leganza. the faulty device was supposed to cause the check engine warning light to illuminate (which it did), and a burning smell and/or visible smoke (which also occurred). the letter mentiond a range of vin numbers of vehicles included in the recall and my car is well within that range. i took the car to an authorized service center for the repair and was told that, despite the fact that the problem resulting in this recall was exactly what was happening to my car, this was not a covered service because the lot number of the part they removed was not within the affected lot of defective parts. the letter i received made no mention of specific lots affected, but it did clearly state, "this service will be performed for you at no charge..." i was charged for the service and the daewoo customer assistance center representative claims no liability for the faulty part and repairs when i spoke to them on the afternoon of march 8,2005.*ak |
