Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: All of the brake lights, including the high center one, suddenly failed without any indication to the operator. the vehicle was driven for an unknown number of days in this condition until a near-accident revealed the defect. the vehicle was used to transport my wife and 9 year old son to and from school and on various errands around town.*ak my wife and son were almost struck from the rear by another vehicle whose driver did not realize that they were braking for a traffic light. the next day, the vehicle was returned to the dealer for repair. after determining that the bulbs, fuse and brake switch were operational, the dealer replaced the intelligent power module (ipm) which supplies power to the brake light circuit. i do not know if the old module is available for inspection. the dealer stated that he had never seen this type of failure before.
