| Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: I was riding 2002 aprilia futura rst1000 motorcycle day 0f 02/25/05 . returned home and parked bike; returned to garage later to find large fuel leak. gas was dripping onto garage floor and there was a puddle that surrounded the motorcycle. i live in an apartment building and there was an electrical motor nearby that i was concerned could ignite gas due to limited ventilation; i threw sand on the gas and called fire department as precaution. i then had to go purchase gas can and siphon to drain amost 4 gallons of gas from bike, and later had bike towed to dealer for service. i researched problem on internet and found there are quite a few other that had this same issue with this model aprilia futura motorcycle: faulty plastic fuel line quick disconnect; local dealer service was excellent and they fixed faulty part at no cost to me, but replaced with the same plastic part, so i am concerned there will be another failure unless part is replaced by a sturdier metal part. *ak |
