Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: The vehicle, 1999 chevy van with 6.5litre turbo diesel. the defect is the premature burnout of the fuel injection drive transistors for the injector's. they last about 50,000 miles at best, but when they fail, it can happen at any time with no notice, the vehicle will shut off at full speed so you loose all power functions like brakes , and steering. in the passing lane this can be fatal. the defect is that it is mounted in a location that does not provide adequate cooling, so failure is eminent. chevy offers no recall or help in the repairs.also by turning off the key, it can be restarted to fail again, a few miles later. *ak
