| Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: Oil light in well-maintained 1999 3.5l chrysler 300m came on at 68,565 miles in front of dealer, where car was left. engine making no unusual noises when shut off. informed that when restarted for diagnostic testing, engine was making noises indicating substantial top and bottom end damage, necessitating replacement for $5,180.22. was given chrysler's customer service number by dealer, but chrysler states there is nothing they would do about it since it was no longer under warranty. this is clearly premature engine failure for which the manufacturer should bear some responsibility. vehicle had also had premature steering rack wear several years prior that was repaired under warranty. *jb |
