Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: Dt: while driving at highway speeds, in a period of 2 days, 2 tires had separation of treads. the first - heard thumping, stopped could see treads separated. second - heard thumping before was able to stop. the treads separated and the tire deflated. tires had about 35,000 miles on them. garage kept and completely covered. *tt this problem also occurred driver rear side and passenger front. tires have a cold pressure rating of 80 psi's. they were all checked and inflated at 70 psi cold. tires were manufactured 03/1998. altitude when inflated, 1,800 ft above sea level. altitude at failure for the first tire was about 5,500 ft m.s.l. on may 8, 2005. the second tire was about 4,800 ft m.s.l. ambient temperature at origin. first and second tire failure was about equal; approximate. 85 degrees f. all tires, except the unusual shape, have been replaced.*sb *nm |
