Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: The vehicle has had a problem with the transmission slipping off and on for about a year. aamco couldn't detect a problem without a check engine light. the light came on in february 2005. the vehicle needed a sensor replaced and there was a error on the transmission also. a complete fluid replacement was done and a conditioner added hoping that this would cure the problem. on june 1 the light came on and the slipping occurred again. it lost merging power on the baltimore beltway and i brought it into aamco for an analysis. they concluded that the torque converter is stuck as well as some additional item. the car is a 2000 pontiac grand prix with 83,000 miles on it. i believe that the power train warranty only covers the vehicle for 80,000 miles. since this has been an ongoing problem prior to the 80,000, i would like to think that gm would assume some liability for the repair ($1900.00). from some of the complaints on your website, i believe that the transmission in this vehicle may be defective in some way.
