| Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: Event leading to failure: none -(low battery) apparently causes failure (wear/tear item) meaning this is guaranteed to happen every 4-5 years! failure: sudden failure of the tachometer and speedometer guages - after work was performed dealer claimed the pcm module shut off (do not know what this is) which apparently controls these items. correction: battery replaced due to low battery - apparently i was told that, by design, the pcm module will shut off on a low current condition from the battery but still allow the motor vehicle to operate. this places the vehicle in a condition that it is illegal to drive the vehicle with an inoperable speedometer. in addition, since the module is 'shutoff', no battery warning or check engine warning indicators function to notify you of a problem. this was incorrectly replaced 6 months earlier (jan 2005) with a new speedometer control. |
