Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: Driving my 1996 lincoln town car vehicle id #[xxx] to work when the brake light appeared in my dash and i lost most of my braking power. i drove slowly to the nearest repair shop where i was informed my brake lines where corroded and leaking. this surprised me as the car is very low mileage.what surprised me more was the cost of repair. i investigated the problem on-line and found a recall for this model/year lincoln for precisely this problem nhtsa campaign number 98i001000. just two days ago i was towing my boat. a brake failure would have been catastrophic. fords recall desk has informed me my vehicle id is not among those recalled. i would like to know if this campaign covered vehicles from 1995-1997 how is my vehicle not included. this is just coincidence! updated 07/19/2012 *js information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6) |
