Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: Converter in jayco kiwi 2002 went bad and we had lights, radio/cd player, and lp detector ruined when too many volts were being sent to this equipment. when we walked into the trailer we smelled an electrical smell and then noticed smoke coming from a panel on the wall. after testing voltage being put out by converter it was determined it was sending 40 volts to 12 volt equipment. there was no safety device on this converter to prevent this from "frying" our equipment that was using 12 volts and if we had not walked in when we did ,there could have been a fire. we have installed a new converter which has a safety on it to prevent this type of thing from happening. this should be required when manufacturing. we have old converter, radio/cd player and lp detector. we have also replaced the lp detector ,but have not priced a new radio yet.
