Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: I was pulling into my driveway, applied the brakes to my 1999 gmc sierra 4x4 pickup truck, vin no. [xxx], and i could not stop and hit the rear end of my girlfriend's 2001 chevy blazer. i was advised to contact gm of the accident as there is a recall in canada (product safety bulletin [psb]- front wheel speed sensor corrosion #04094 dated january 25, 2005) for brake failure. gm representatives sent a fact finder to determine if the problem was the wheel sensor. the body damage repair estimate to my truck is $2,902.86 and $1,907.79 to the blazer. the estimates were faxed to gm and we were informed that the report indicated there was a problem but, since the damages were over $1,000.00 the case had to be referred to risk management. risk management stated the fact finders report did not indicate a problem which was contrary to what i was told previously. i requested a copy of the report and was denied as it is considered proprietary information. i informed risk management that a tsb had been issued which they claimed they were unaware of. risk management offered to pay 50% of the damages. i called the original contact person at gm and was told the report indicated that there was not a current diagnostic problem however, the history code shows that the left front wheel speed sensor was missing - dropped out of circuit - indicating that there has been past problems with the wheel sensor. since the accident i borrowed my mother's car and was asked to return it so, i drove my truck through a 40 mph zone, my hood flew open breaking the hinges. i have not had my truck or my girlfriend's blazer fixed as i am uncertain what to do. i feel it is wrong to request my insurance company to pay for damages that are clearly the fault of the manufacturer. in addition, if this type of incident occurs in a crowded area someone could get seriously hurt or killed. i ask for your assistance in resolving this issue for the safety of everyone. thank you. *jb updated 07/19/2012 *js information redacted pursuant to
