Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: We purchased 4 new tires from les schwab. one tire fell apart while being driven at highway speed. the tire whipped my car and sliced the left side of the car cutting the side and rear bumper areas. also, it tore out the rear left tail light. the car was thrown out of alignment. i reported it to les schwab who sent me to the manufacturer, continental tire north america. in charlotte north carolina. they requested 2 estimates, the tire and a claim report. i also reported it to my auto insurance company. per my insurance. the damages were more than my car is worth ($2700.00) so they will not pay for repairs. the offered to pay the current blue book value to me. continental tires contacted me and stated that the tire was not found defective, and offered me my $500.00 deductible along with a release and settlement agreement. my car was in great shape prior to the damage done by the tire. you expect new tires to wear out or go flat but never to fall apart where the tread fell apart and cut your car. i still own the tire if needed for inspection. also, legs schwab charged me for a new tire. i believe the tire was defective. it seems i lose either way.*ak
