| Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: Dt: consumer owns a 1993 chevrolet w/t half ton pickup truck . the spare tire fell off while parked in a parking lot. the consumer determined this happened because the cable that holds the spare tire is rusted. the consumer went to the gm dealer, and the dealer said there were no recalls and no replacement was offered. the consumer contacted the gm manufacturer and they offered no remedy as well. they would forward the information to their engineering staff. they did recommend replacing the cable with a safer one; they have new ones offered at the dealer that are made of stainless steel. the consumer has not replaced the cable at this time but plans to do so. the consumer has concerns for other vehicle owners who may have this same cable. *ak *mr the consumer has replaced the spare tire carrier with a new stainless steel gm replacement. *nm |
