Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: I received a factory safety recall notice in the mail today concerning my 2005 kia sedona minivan. i purchased it in fort walton beach, florida while stationed at eglin afb, fl. i received military orders to move to minot afb, north dakota and found that there isn't a kia dealer within 286 miles or 5 1/2 hours. there is an authorized kia service location in minot, nd at don bessette motors but can only use them for emergency factory service. the factory recall condition states that in freezing conditions, which north dakota falls into that category, can cause the throttle cable to freeze during normal operation allowing the vehicle to maintain or accelerate speeds without warning and may cause a crash. i would like to have the kia motor company to either authorize me to have my car worked on here in minot or have my car towed to the nearest kia dealer at their expense and have it fixed. i work in transportation for the military and have never heard of such resistance from a car company to fix a mistake on one of their own cars. thank you. *jb |
