Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: Dt: hinge on the glass of the rear window separated during an extremely hot day of 100 degree plus temperature. the glass did not break but only separated into pieces. this happened on a 2002 chevrolet tahoe rear lift glass. if the back lift glass door was opened and the hinge fully separated the glass could fall off on a person or ultimately fall out of the hinge at highway speeds. the glass never fully separated;, only one hinge separated. no previous issues with this problem. the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, who stated they would not repair the problem because the glass would not be covered under the warranty. the consumer d noted that the glass and the hinge are together in one manufactured piece. the consumer contacted gm through the better business bureau, and it was later determined that gm would not cover the repairs. the cost for the repair was $630. the consumer paid out of pocket for the glass and replaced it himself. the consumer noted that the replacement glass and hinge were newly redesigned. |
