Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: I am being told by both the dealer where i purchased my truck and an independent garage i trust, that i need to replace my brake rotors as they are rusted and pitted to the point of not functioning as designed and could eventually be dangerous as they deteriorate. the dealer is not saying that but is recommending replacement as my responsibility even though this truck is a 2000 with only 40,546 miles. the independent has told me that he has seen a number of gm trucks of this age with seriously pitted rotors as the metal allows rust pitting to eat through the metal this could become a serious hazard and seems to be an isolated problem to this model ( silverado) and 2000 at least and perhaps other years. since this has not been a problem on any of my other vehicles, i have to believe that something was wrong with gm specifications of the metal for these rotors. i don't believe this is an expense that should be mine as the metal defect was the manufacturers fault. *nm
