Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: Parking break failure on 2000 gmc sierra pickup. there is a recall for the same vehicle type with manual transmissions (nhtsa recall #05v161000, gm recall number 05042) however the current recall does not include the vehicles sold with automatic transmissions even though they have the exact same parking brake design and the exact same parts used in the breaking system. my truck will not pass texas state inspection due to the parking break failure. the state inspection considers my truck unsafe. nhtsa needs to make general motors fix this problem since the problem exists regardless of whether it is an automatic or manual transmission. i understand that with manual transmissions there is a greater chance for an injury to occur however, the vehicle state inspection in texas considers my vehicle unsafe shouldn't the nhtsa and gm? *nm |
