Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: I purchased a new 2004 envoy xuv in 7/2004. after about 3 months of ownership the steering wheel started to make a squeaking noise when turning or being in park and turning the wheel. when i brought in the xuv for an oil change i told the dealer about the squeak but they were unable to duplicate the noise that day. however, the noise was still there and as the time came closer to the next oil change the noise was getting louder. it was kind of a scraping sound. the dealer did hear that sound that was described and lubricated something in the steering wheel. the noise faded but was back within the next couple of days. well, today i brought in the xuv for it's scheduled oil change and complained about the noise. the answer the gmc dealership gave me was that this is a common defect in the envoys and yukon and there was nothing they can do to fix it. changing the steering shaft would not fix it and lubricating it won't work either. the noise coming from the steering wheel is like a window being cleaned with a squeegee. so, as of today...still no resolution to the problem. *jb |
