| Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: Returning home to slidell, la from little rock arkansas due to hurricane katrina evacuation when left rear tire on a 2001 sport trail tandem axle boat trailer failed. speed 55 mph, tire (carlisle usa trail st205/75d14, dot uukc acc3001) had a blow out just before louisiana state line. boat trailer has a 2001 sea ox 223f boat- dry, no rigging or extra weight. boat and trailer purchased brand new in february of 2003. all tires appear in great shape, regular pressure checks. blown tire has 8mm (1/4") + of tread depth. upon searching for a same replacement to keep a match and gearing for this hurricane season, i was quite surprised at the number of carlisle tire failures. it is evident a time period carlisle produced faulty tires. i am not comfortable replacing that tire with the same and now paranoid to tow the trailer again having three other carlisle tires to contend with. please review the occurrences of carlisle tire failures, ensure they are credible and initiate a recall. *nm |
