Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: I own a 2005 bmw z4 3.0i. if the car is parked in the sun on a warm day for a couple of hours, or driven for a couple of hours on a warm day, the steering becomes sticky and the driver has to use some unusually large force to rotate the steering wheel. it becomes impossible to make small steering adjustments when driving, instead there is always overcorrection and undercurrent. also when the steering wheel is slightly turned , couple of degrees, it doesn't go. back in neutral position on its own. the driver has to rotate it back to neutral, and due to the force required this results again in overcorrection. this behavior is especially dangerous when driving with higher speeds on highways, since its almost impossible to drive a straight line. instead the car goes left and right and one has to be careful not to inadvertently change lanes. this failure occurs reproducible on every warm day >80 degrees fahrenheit after the car is parked in the sun for a couple of hours. *ak |
