Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: This is an excerpt of a letter i wrote to wal-mart supercenter #2309 regarding their unseating my child's car seat when changing the oil in my car. the day this occurred, it was raining like crazy in west chester, ohio. this simply compounded the huge mistake, risking the safety of my child. -- after braving the downpour of rain, i open the passenger-side back door to put my toddler into his car seat. as i start to place my son into his rear-facing car seat, i realize that the seat is no longer secure. upon closer inspection, the passenger seat in the front had been forcibly moved back (it is an electric seat and was already moved back as far as it could go with the rear-facing car seat behind it). the rear-facing car seat vehicle safety belt restraints had been loosened significantly and i was left in the pouring rain with my toddler son to try and re-seat and readjust the safety of the seat in order to leave the store property and return home. jacob, a manager, seemed empathetic, but was unwilling to take responsibility for the situation. he told me the package i purchased included a vacuum of the front seat floor which is why the seat was moved. as i told him, vacuum or not, unseating a child safety seat is irresponsible and but unacceptable. as a customer, i believe i shouldn't have to wonder after an oil change if i'm going to have to readjust and correctly place my child's safety seat back into my car. as i explained to jacob, my child's life was at risk. god forbid i had gotten into an accident on that very wet day; the seat may not have been correctly reseated - as my husband always installs the car seats for safety. fortunately, i only live a few miles away from the store and made it home safely. however, does a child have to be injured or killed for the technicians to realize they can't make changes in the seating which unseats child safety car seats? does wal-mart need to realize that and what will be done in the future? *nm
