Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: Our new 2006 chevrolet ck1500 4x4 extended cab pick up truck has a cruise control defect that chevrolet dismisses as normal. when you are driving using the cruise control and start up a hill the truck slows down at least 10 miles an hour then suddenly without warning the cruise control system jolts the truck forward trying to compensate for the loss of speed. this is startling to say the least. it has happened to us going up hills and around hilly curves. if i did not keep both hands on the wheel i very well could have lost control and crashed. i have met one other person who owns a chevrolet suv and he told me he has the same problem. he simply stated that he "just doesn't use the cruise control". i think chevrolet is fudging the truth to tell me it is normal and has to do with gear ratios when i have had numerous vehicles which do not commit this activity. the dealer has been very helpful concerning this matter and i do not hold him to fault. i do believe that corporate gm has a stake in covering up a problem of this nature that could have devastating potential. some one will lose control of a vehicle somewhere due to this occurrence and someone will lose their life. *jb
