Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: My "malfunction indicator lamp' on my 6 cylinder 2000 honda accord came on. the dealer let me know that their diagnostics pointed to a problem with cylinder #4. he had me authorize a $1000 "tear down the engine" estimate in case my extended warranty didn't cover the repair. american honda corp sent their adjuster to determine that it was excessive carbon build up in the engine which is not covered by my extended warranty. the dealer had the parts sent to a machinist to determine if there is a damaged part in the cylinder that would be covered under warranty. i have been given a $2300 approximate repair bill to pay on my own if no damage is found. not that long ago, i spent $300 at the dealership cleaning a carbon build up problem that was causing my accelerator to stick. *nm |
