Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: The parking brake has failed on my 2002 chevrolet silverado, as has been described in the gm recall number 05042. the friction linings have worn and cut into the drum, making the parking brake ineffective. a gm representative told me my vehicle was not recalled, and the only vehicles recalled were vehicles that have a manual transmission. mine has an automatic transmission. i believe my vehicle should be included in the recall, due to the fact that i have to park on steep boat ramps while launching my boat, and have to depend on the parking brake to help hold the vehicle from rolling into the water. *nm
