| Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: Two kumho tires failed that were mounted as duals of the right rear axle of my 2002 gulfstream motorhome. the vehicle was not overloaded and tires were properly inflated (80 psi). we had just purchased the motorhome, first trip, and were driving between 55 and 60 mph. the highway was dry and the temperature was about 90 degrees f. we had driven about 175 miles when the failure occurred. the tires were made by kumho, size lt225/75 r-16 load range e. it appears the outside dual separated causing about $5,000 damage to the coach, to the inside dual causing it to blowout and severing the right rear brake line. no injuries. the dot number on the inside dual was h21lyd1p1004 and the tread depth was 11. *nm |
