Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: 2002 volkswagen passat failed to start suddenly, with no warning signs. it had to be towed to the mechanic, with no answer immediately for its failure to start. the fuel pump was the reason for the breakdown, and volkswagen recalled the 2002 passat for faulty fuel pumps, but not all 2002's qualified for the recall, like mine. there was a waiting list of 3 months just to get a pump from the dealer. the fuel pump had to be replaced at a charge of $615.87, and it should have been included in a recall if this problem affects all 2002 models. *jb
