Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: I was riding home from cincinnati on my 2005 yamaha road star going westbound on interstate 74. i was in the process of passing another vehicle when my v-twin engine instantly lost power. the semi in the passing lane behind me had to lock up his brakes causing all westbound traffic to come to a stand still. as luck would have it, nobody got hurt this time. i had the bike towed home so i could inspect why the sudden loss of power. after removing rear cylinder head, i found sludge on one of the exhaust valves and the valve was sticking. this is the same thing that happened on my 2003 yamaha road star, which i traded in for the 2005 model because of a sticking valve problem. i think that this is a very serious safety issue that needs to be looked into so that maybe it will help to prevent a loss of life. *jb |
