| Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: We were using a car seat and base purchased in august 2006 for our newborn. the item is an eddie bauer integrated travel system, stroller, car seat, and base. the model number is #22-630-hpn. we went to two different certified car seat check centers to verify proper installation and usage, and were fine. about one month ago, while turning a corner, the car seat with my infant detached from the base and flew into the other seat. we attributed it at that time to human error as we could see no visible damage or problems, and the baby seemed to be okay. for the past couple of days, i have had difficulty in locking the seat onto the base, and have had to triple check its position to verify it was installed properly. i attributed this to the awkwardness of the car seat and positioning on my part. today (10/23/06), the same thing happened when turning a corner. the seat detached from the base and flew across the car with my baby inside. at this point i realized that it was not our error, but something wrong with the car seat or base. i contacted the manufacturer and was told i could exchange the item. since i liked the stroller that came with it, we had another car seat, and since we did not have the original receipt, i agreed to do an exchange. however, after getting over the shock and becoming angry, i decided to return the item completely and be done with it. i do not want to see any other children injured or worse from the use of this product, and would hope that you would conduct an investigation. thank you. *nm |
