Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: I am writting on a very potential dangerous problem with a fuel line repair sold by dorman products. i am an ase certified mechanic with over 50 years of experience. this involves fuel line repair fittings this company is selling. one of the parts numbers is 800-145. this is the number to rapir a 3/8 fuel line hose but they make other sizes for other size lines. this fitting is not made for the type of plactic line they are selling it for and can not make the repair in a safe manner in my opinion. the inner tube of the fitting is too small to support the plastic line as it should and will in effect make an insecure attchment or could even crack the line. the fitting is made for a different type of plastic tube , not the type ussed for fuel lines. i called the company and talked to a gentleman called marty but all he would say is that they have sold 1000's of them and i have not had a problem but they have changed the parts. i asked if he was going to replace the defective parts i have and he said no because they have no reported problems. this is a very dangerous situation and the fuel pressure in these line can run in the 60 pound area and could blow fuel all over very quickley. i would hate to see someone injured or killed by a fire that could be prvented. i feed this issue needs immediate attention. thank you dale swanson |
