Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: On november 5, 2006 a trailer hitch and lighting package was installed by u-haul of poway, ca. on november 17, 2006 i picked up a trailer from u-haul in order to transport personal items from california to oregon. after traveling to oregon towing the trailer it was determined that the turn signals and brake lights were not working properly. i took my car to the bend, oregon u-haul dealership to determine what was wrong. it was determined that the converter box was defective. i had it replaced. while driving my car in oregon in mid december the turn signals stopped working. i took the car to the local subaru dealership and it was determined that due to impoper installation of the lighting package the turn signal wire fell onto the exhaust pipe, melting the insulation which caused a short in the system and then blowing the signal fuses. i brought this to the attention of u-haul in poway and have been met with "too bad" attitude. these are serious safety issues. u-haul may be intalling defective converter boxes in vehcles and also intalling lighting packages in vehicles improperly. u-haul needs to be investigated for these serious safety issues. |
