Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: In may of 2006, i purchased a blue ox brake system model bx888193 sn 01091 for our 05 chevrolet malibu max to supplement braking of our motorhome. during the next few months, i experienced several problems with the unit and twice it was sent back to the manufacturer for leaking problems. during my static testing of the unit, the unit locked up and had to be released by pushing the drain button. alarmed, i called blue ox and was told that each time i used the device, i had to "normalize" the unit which consisted of holding the "test" button and pressing the "sensitivity" button five times. at this point i should have returned the unit but i didn't and after doing the necessary requirements, tried to use the system on a trip to maine. coming off a mountain in new york, i noticed the red light indicating the car brakes were on so i pulled the motor home over to find that the blue ox brake system was locked up and the car front end was smoking. after again pushing the "drain" button i was able to remove the brake system from the car. being very upset, i called and talked to a mr denny fillipi from blue ox and he told me to have the dar repaired and to return the braking system for refund. after having the car repaired at a chevrolet dealer in maine for over eleven hundred dollars and returning the brake system to blue ox, i received a phone call from deanna from blue ox stating that they would refund me the money for the brake system but not for the repair of my car. she stated that their testing of the unit did not show any malfunction. i contend that there is something that their testing overlooks and that their brake system is dangerous. blue ox is located in pender nebraska and the person i have been dealing with is deanna graham 800 228 9289. *jb |
