Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: Low beam headlight bulb oem was sylvania hid-9500 part #. can no longer obtain parts from lincoln. this is a common problem for this vehicle, and after market/conversions/kits are very inferior. these items being sold and installed on vehicles cause problems for motoring public. low light, out of focus, headlights blind oncoming drivers etc. i have tried several of these it's just as good as new retro fits and notice the parts all come from foreign countries with no attempt to comply with nhtsa or dot standards. is there any way your agency may intervene on behalf of owners of these vehicles to cause ford to make an approved replacement part available or stop the import of poor parts and kits from being sold to uneducated consumers. not only is it a waste of time and money, these import "fix it kits" are dangerous. my lincoln dealer printed me a page from his parts guide showing that ford no longer has this bulb, telling me to show this to the police if i get stopped driving with a headlight burned out. seems kind of bizarre to have a $40,000.00 car that you can't buy a $40.00 bulb for.fyi these foreign products being offered as answers to this problem sell for $400.00 up on ebay and other inet sites. *ak |
