Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: Vehicle has a drivetrain shudder on take off between shift from 1st to 2nd gear at approximately 15-20 mph. this has done this since it was brand new. dealer replaced driveline which did not help. regional toyota rep drove the truck and acknowledged the shudder but thought it might be normal. this appears to be a design defect and is complained about by many owners on toyota tacoma online forum: http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t171279.html . there are many other message threads from other owners with the same complaint. searching for shudder or vibration will yield results. i am concerned that this shudder/vibration is causing wear on components on my vehicle and it is very uncomfortable to drive every day. many owners seem to be waiting for a technical service bulletin that will advise dealers on how to fix this. i have owned 4 other toyota's and this is the first time i have experienced this poor quality/design in one of their vehicles. *jb |
