Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: (1) events leading up to the failure: bmw motorcycle 06 k1200gt. driving motorcycle at highway speeds. engine fully warmed up. (2) failure and its consequences: shutting off throttle to down shift engine would not idle down, engine idle stuck at 3000 rpm for five to ten seconds. when idle did slow down it would idle erratic and not smooth just touching the throttle would cause the engine to rev to 3000 rpm's. very difficult to drive at surface street speeds, 40 mph or slower. problem would go away if engine is turned off for a minute or two! this has happened to me five times since dec. 26 2006. (3) what was done to correct the failure; i.e, parts repaired or replaced: complained to dealer at 12,000 mile inspection. "job: check idle, customer says he has had 4 instances of erratic idle". dealer checked idle and for codes, nothing done. i also checked with two other dealers to see if they had any reports of high idle problems. they claim they didn't and both said they contacted bmw na. |
