| Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: General safety complaint about several makes of vehicles. many vehicles use their headlights as running lights and they come on automatically. drivers, in seeing their headlights on, do not realize that their taillights are not on and drive with no taillights. i first noticed this in a driving rainstorm when i suddenly came up on a car with no taillights. through the spray that he was kicking up and the driving rain, it was almost impossible to see him. this alerted me to the fact and i started looking. approximately 25% of the newer vehicles had headlights on but no taillights. i recently rented a chevrolet blazer . i left my hotel in the dark with my headlights on. it wasn't until i got to my destination and went to turn off my headlights that i discovered i had not turned them on. i strongly believe that headlights should not be able to be operated without taillights being on . *nm |
