Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: 2000 ford taurus - while driving on a side street near my home, the rear suspension spring broke and protruded into the rear tire causing the inside of the tire to be damaged. this event happened at a low speed and the car was stopped as soon as the noise was heard. there was not an accident due to the timing of the failure at low speed and the driver's reaction time. at the time of this complaint, the car has not been fixed yet as it only occurred one day ago. i was alarmed when i researched this problem on the internet and found many other complaints for the same type of failure. obviously the rear spring design on these cars are defective, resulting in a very dangerous situation if they fail at high speed. i was fortunate compared to other reports i have read. *nm |
