Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: While riding in normal traffic conditions in second gear at 5500 rpm s at 48 mph for a duration of three or more seconds as if cruising at speed, application of the throttle provided lagging results. throttle was applied, and the motorcycle took a up to two seconds to react. this condition is repeatable, and there is instant throttle response at 5000 rpms and 6000 rpms in the same configuration. this could be an issue if a rider is forced to watch gauges as opposed to traffic to stay out of an rpm range as opposed to a posted speed. further this could cause an issue where instant throttle application could be the only escape to an emergency situation (i.e. cross traffic disobeying a traffic light or a vehicle approaching from behind too quickly). this issue has been reported to the dealer where the vehicle was purchased from as well as yamaha customer service. other riders have reported the same issue (repeatable on all bikes with a us engine control unit to date), and currently, the manufacturer apparently denies that it is an issue.*ak |
