Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: I have purchased a 2007 yamaha yzf r1 and would like to make a complaint about the throttle lag in 2nd gear at 5500 rpm. i was entering the freeway (i-5) and was about to merge into traffic when i was attempting to accelerate to merge in traffic the throttle basically stalled at speed and slowly began to pick up speed. it has also been an issue while changing lanes on the freeway and turning corners on off ramps. the engine does not correspond with the throttle while attempting to accelerate and has caused me to run off the road while in a corners twice and nearly get hit by other vehicles on the freeway. when the engine finally spools up and the lag is gone the bike takes off suddenly and you have to hold on. i have called yamaha and taken my bike to two different dealerships. the yamaha customer service rep told me to replace the counter shaft sprocket and this would be a fix for the problem. i did this and the problem is not gone and now i have a speedometer that is incorrect. yamahas response was sorry for telling you so fast to replace a part when we didnt know the fix. there is nothing that we can do for you now at this time. i hope that there is something taked care of soon before one of the 07 r1 riders is injured or even worse killed.
