Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: I own a monte carlo ss 2006, and while driving the battery cable or another part of it came loose or malfunctioned, to where it was short circuiting the power to the car. i was on the highway driving and lost all power, even the alternator stopped. this seemed like it was triggering the theft protection; anyhow i had no power, and had to coast to the side of the road. i put the car in park and couldn't turn my key back to the release position, so i popped the hood but couldn't get out of the car because the door wouldn't unlock. i pulled on both handles and with no power the car wouldn't let me out. a person stopped and opened the hood and moved the battery wiring around some, which gave me power to at least open my door now. i took the car directly to the dealer ship to be serviced and looked into. my main concern is if i am in a wreck and lose all power to the vehicle then how am i to open the door(s). the handle should unlock the car door from the inside with or without power.*ak
